By the power of the Holy Spirit, Chaplain Bill Hlavin, a pastor of our Northwestern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has prepared twenty-seven Marine Reservists for the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the early morning (7:00 am, PDST) of August 1, 2010. Chaplain Hlavin and his unit are to be deployed to Afghanistan later this month. In solidarity with him, and with them, the congregations of our synod are invited to use the SPECIAL ORDER OF THANKSGIVING FOR BAPTISM and appropriate BULLETIN INSERT (both linked below) at your evening worship on July 31 or morning worship on August 1.
We give thanks to God for the movement of the Spirit in the lives of these 27 men and pray God’s richest blessings on these servants who will be deployed to Afghanistan in mid-August.
