"Jesus Drafted Ordinary People”

Worship and Team Building

Weekend Retreat

August 21-23, 2009

Our Lady of the Pines

Fremont, Ohio

______________________________________________________

Understanding Team Building and Worship . . .

Use of teams in business is widespread.  Understanding the basics of team building increases our ability to succeed.  In the church, we also strive to get people to work together in teams and towards a single goal . . . to follow God's will for us.

So, how do we get people to work together toward that single goal?

We'll explore this question and also look at the liturgical foundations of Lutheran Christians in worship and how we can build on those rich traditions that hold us together as a community or "Team."

This is an excellent opportunity for teams, leaders, and anyone  who truly wants to understand the dynamics of team building, Lutheran Worship Origins, and how Jesus was the original leader who "Drafted Ordinary People" for his team!

THUS FAR BY FAITH: A Multicultural Family Reunion

The Ethnic Mission Strategy Team of the NW Ohio Synod
invites you to join us on
Sunday, August 30, 2-4PM,
on the lawn (and in the shade!) at
St. Mark, Bowling Green
for a
“MULTICULTURAL FAMILY REUNION”

This gathering is a time to celebrate, to sing, to tell stories of sharing our faith in Christ Jesus, and a time to dream about how God might broaden the shape of our mission in the days ahead.

You are invited to Thus Far by Faith if you are...

...a person of color: African-American, Latino,
Asian-American, Native American, Arab-American...

...a European-American (white)...

...someone who hungers to see the movement of the Holy Spirit, and to recognize the “new things” God is doing in our midst...

...interested in thinking about how our church might make more connections among people of color in service and in witness...

...one who likes to sing songs of faith and joy with sisters and brothers in Christ on a beautiful summer afternoon in the shade...

The Synod's Ethnic Mission Strategy Team wrote in 2007: When the congregations and agencies of this synod fully reflect the ethnic diversity of their communities, the need for an ethnic specific emphasis will pass away.

We invite you to gather with us on August 30 at Thus Far By Faith: A Multicultural Family Reunion to celebrate
what has already been done to bring greater diversity to our church in the name of Jesus Christ, and to pray for the day when our church fully reflects the beautiful breadth of the kingdom of God!

SAVE THE DATE for: CROSS TRAINING '09
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 8:30AM-4PM @ TRINITY, FINDLAY

A FESTIVAL OF LEARNING AND CELEBRATION!

CROSS TRAINING '09 will be a day for all the leaders of the Northwestern Ohio Synod to gather to worship, to connect, and to learn. This is the place for pastors, council members, ministry team leaders and members to share ideas, receive vital resources, be inspired, and make contacts with others who are in similar circumstances.

There will be workshops covering every aspect of ministry, so everyone will find something (several things!) to be empowered for serving Christ's church.

Watch for more information and registration details in the coming months
